Genetic Testing Laws & Regulations
The laws governing genetic testing are complex and ever-changing. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration generally controls medicine in the United States, some states also have a say in the matter.
The advertisers on this website sell some DNA tests which may or may not be appropriate, approved or even legal.
In addition, the purpose of the genetic tests is important. A test to determine legal paternity (who is the genetic father of a child) must have a chain of custody. A test to determine one's chances of contracting breast cancer is far different.
Some persons prefer anonymous DNA testing, in order to avoid problems with their health insurance and family members.
