Genetic Testing Results
The results of genetic testing can be comforting or disturbing.
If the DNA test was for the purpose of determining paternity (who is the baby daddy), the results may break up a happy relationship. Or, they may help a mother to collect tens of years of childcare payments from the biological father of her baby or babies.
If the genetic test is for a terminal disease, like MS or Alzheimer's disease, it is probably best for the person to know...but not always.
If the mother is in a stable relationship, her husband or boyfriend learning that another man is the biological father of a child can be extremely stressful.
These are all decisions that must be made, before the testing is begun. The mother must give deep consideration to whether a DNA paternity test is a wise idea.
